Gregory H. Cross' Obituary
Gregory H. Cross, age 69, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Greg was born May 7, 1953 in Muskegon to Harold “Stub” and Virginia (Stickney) Cross. He was a graduate of Reeths Puffer High School in 1972 and was a lifelong resident of the area. On March 26, 1976, he married his best friend Diane L. Mosher in Muskegon. They had two children Andy and Leslie. Greg first worked 20 years as an optical lens grinder, then retired in 2008 working 18 years as a machine operator for the Sappi Paper Mill. Greg attended Laketon Bethel Reformed Church. He was an avid University of Michigan fan, go blue. He also enjoyed the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Lions. Greg had a passion for playing fast pitch softball for many years. Some of his other favorite activities included being outdoors, swimming, camping and especially tubing down The Platte River. He was very talented at crafting with wood and other materials. Greg was always up to no good by playing a good prank on those that he loved. Greg will always be known as being as strong as a buffalo for the strength he showed in life. His love for his family and friends was unmeasurable. Survivors include the love of his life of 47 years, Diane L. Cross; his daughter, Leslie Cross; his daughter-in-law, Jenny Cross; 2 grandchildren, twins Kamden and Gavin; foster-grandchildren, Alissa and Ka’Tya; Leslie’s boyfriend Ben and his son Luke; 3 sisters, Sandy Walker, Gloria Cross, Carol Cross; 1 brother-in-law, John Mosher; 2 sisters-in-law, Cathy (Fritz) Clarke, Jeanie (Bob) Holstrom; and a host of special cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends that were close to Greg. He was preceded in death by his son, Andy Cross; his parents; and his special dog, “Gracie”. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Laketon Bethal Reformed Church, 1568 W. Giles Rd., with Rev. Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444.
