Gregory L. Hicks' Obituary
Gregory Lee Hicks, age 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2023 following several years of illness. He was born on April 8, 1956 to Thomas and Elizabeth (Norstrom) Hicks in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Greg worked at Sealed Power for 30 years as a journeyman toolmaker. Greg enjoyed spending his time watching NASCAR, grilling for friends and family, and drinking a cold Bud Light. He was very gifted at being able to fix anything that needed to be repaired, whether it was working on cars or projects around the house. He dedicated many hours restoring a vintage Corvette until he was no longer able to. Greg also enjoyed going up to the Baldwin area to deer and turkey hunt. Christmas time was always a special time for his family. He continued the Swedish tradition from his grandmother of making Swedish potato sausage with the extended family for Christmas Eve dinners. Greg will be missed by his siblings, Brad (Tambra) Hicks and Susan (Michael) Herbert; nieces and nephews, Michael Hicks (Ryan Henry), Samantha (Thomas) Carrier, Zachary Herbert (Taylor Ronk), Jacob Herbert (Gabrielle Hepler), and Lacey Herbert; and great-nephew, Leon Carrier. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all the aides, staff, and nurses for their wonderful and compassionate care for Greg and a very special thanks to Donna for EVERYTHING she has done for Greg over the past four years. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, June 21 at 2:30PM at Lakeside Cemetery, 2201 Crozier Ave, Muskegon, 49441. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Greg’s memory may be directed to Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids or a charity of choice. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Please feel free to share a memory with the family online at www.sytsemafh.com.
