Gregory Lynn McClure's Obituary
Gregory L. McClure, age 72, passed away on October 26, 2024, at his home in Muskegon, Michigan. Greg was born on May 28, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Norvin and Mary Ann (Diederich) McClure. Gregory served in the Army from 1970 through 1973. During that time, he was deployed to Vietnam for 12 months where he received a Bronze Star for being wounded in action. He was discharged with honors from the US Army’s 1st Infantry Division.
After serving his country, Greg started a family and welcomed three daughters, Shea, Erin, and Ashley. Greg was a family man, hard-working, and had a deep passion for music. His girls will always associate the sounds of an acoustic guitar with their Dad, who played by ear. Greg drove a semi truck for many decades delivering goods around the country and after he retired he moved to Michigan to be near his grandchildren. In his retirement, he enjoyed cruising in his ‘Vette, Woodstock listening to golden oldies and classic rock. He also loved to keep ice cream in his freezer for the grandkids. His love and devotion for his children, grandchildren, and family will be what they will miss and cherish the most in his passing.
He is survived by his father: Norvin McClure; siblings: Garry (Marilyn) McClure, Linda Minnick, and Wayne McClure; daughters: Shea (Stu) Collins, Erin (Bill) Schmitz, and Ashley (Jesse) Blekking; grandchildren: Spencer (Cat), Addison, Rileigh, Isaac, Cruz, and Caleb; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his favorite companion, his dog, Buddy. He was preceded in death by his mother: Mary Ann McClure; brother: Terry McClure, and brother-in-law: Raymond Minnick.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, 2024, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 West Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802. A luncheon will immediately follow, and a full military service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Orange Township Cemetery in Rome City, Indiana.
