Gregory A. Bishop's Obituary
Mr. Gregory A. Bishop, age 55, went to be with his Lord, on Friday evening, June 24, 2005, in Muskegon. Greg was born October 7, 1949 in Muskegon to Fred J. “Pete” & Delores (Hoeksema) Bishop and had been a life resident of the area. At the time of his retirement in 2001, Greg had been Co-Owner of Bishop Heating and Air Conditioning, where he had been employed 30 years. He was a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an Elder and was its Financial Secretary for 26 years. Greg had also previously served as a member and President of the Muskegon Christian School Board. On July 31, 1971 he married the former Joanne Hartog and she survives him along with 4 children, Scott (Melissa) Bishop and Amy (Scott) Trifan of Grand Rapids, Samantha (Brian) Sipe of Spring Lake and Steven (Crystal) Bishop of Kalamazoo, MI; 4 grandchildren, Hillary & Grant Bishop, Samuel Sipe and Gabriel Trifan; his parents, Pete & Dee Bishop of Norton Shores; 1 brother, David Bishop of Norton Shores and 1 sister, Gayla Batts of Grosse Pointe Park, MI. Greg was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John R. Batts. SERVICES will be 11 Am Tuesday at Allen Ave. Christian Reformed Church (695 Allen Ave.) with the Rev. Robert Bierenga officiating. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION with Greg’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday at Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210)
