Gretchen Virginia Distel's Obituary
Gretchen Virginia Distel, age 81, of Grand Haven passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at Medi Lodge at The Shore in Grand Haven. She was born April 4, 1939, in Detroit, MI to Fred J. and Virginia (Mitchell) Distel.
Gretchen was a member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church. She previously worked at McDonald’s and was recognized as employee of the year by Goodwill Industries. Gretchen also was the Florida State Special Olympics Backstroke Champion and loved riding horses.
She is lovingly remembered by two brothers, Dan (Eleanor) Distel and Terry (Linda) Distel; and ten nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Schwartz as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, MI. Memorial contributions to St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund are appreciated.
