Guadalupe Alviar Jr's Obituary
Guadalupe “Lupe” Alviar, Jr, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at his home. He was born February 16, 1947 in Muskegon, MI to Guadalupe and Conception M. (Guerrero) Alviar, Sr and was a lifelong resident of the area. Lupe was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp and served in the Vietnam War where he sustained lifelong injuries from contaminated water at Camp Lejeune. Lupe devoted much of his free time to various Veteran’s Organizations where he held a multitude of board positions over the years. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America, VFW Post #7729, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 - Wood Tazelar Post. Lupe volunteered as an organizer of the Veteran’s Memorial Park on the Causeway in North Muskegon. Prior to retiring in 1995, Lupe worked as a Veteran’s Advocate Case Worker for the State of Michigan’s Employment Security Commission. Survivors include 3 children, Robert Alviar, Chevella Alviar, Richard (Maria Fe) Alviar; 4 grandchildren, Alecia Maria Alviar, Antonio Raymond Alviar, Nathan Edward Hall, Alana E. Alviar; 3 great grandchildren, Jace Alviar, Liam Alviar, Brayden Alviar; 1 brother, Jesse Alviar; and 2 special nieces, Amelia Vargas, and Sophia Alviar Fase. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Alexander Michael Alviar; his parents; and 3 sisters, Anita Alviar, Angela Dill and Beatrice Vargas. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the VFW Derezinski Post #7729 on Apple Avenue. Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place 1:30 PM Friday, May 23, 2025 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
