Gustofe Lawrence Roomsburg's Obituary
Mr. Gustofe Lawrence “Gus” Roomsburg, age 86, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Zeeland, Michigan. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 3, 1937 to Lawrence and Gertrude (Ulrich) Roomsburg. Gus was a loyal member of the Laborers International Union Local 355 since 1964 and was employed by Muskegon Construction for over 30 years. He also served as a volunteer fireman and Assistant Fire Chief for Egelston Township Fire Department. Gus loved the outdoors, gardening, cutting his grass, working on his property, and walking. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to see his grandson Michael Roomsburg and great-granddaughter, Makensie, in Virginia. On July 15, 1961, Gus married the former Viola B. Morrison and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2011. He is survived by his children, Steve (Sheila) Roomsburg, Dale Roomsburg, and Carolyn (Gregg Stordahl) Roomsburg; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and special niece, Diane Hogle and family. In addition to his wife, Gus was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings. VISITATION for Gus will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
