Gwendolyn Armstrong's Obituary
Ms. Gwendolyn “Gwen” Armstrong, age 66, went to her heavenly home to be with our Lord on Monday, November 16, 2020. She was born in Muskegon on September 18, 1954 to Robert Lee Armstrong and Ruby Mae (Warren) Armstrong and was a life-long resident of the area. Gwen graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. Gwen was dedicated to her family and community, being loved, and cherished by all. On February 28, 2019, Muskegon Community College, honored Gwendolyn with the Love in Action Award for giving and serving her community. She was baptized at an early age at Greater Harvest Baptist Church and later reunited with Resurrection Life Church under the leadership of Pastor Kendria L. Armstrong, who also was her caregiver in the final moments of her life. Gwen enjoyed baking her famous Carmel and German Chocolate cakes, sewing and spending time with her family. She loved to do word searches and watching “The Price Is Right”. Gwen leaves to cherish her memories, six sisters; Louise Summersville of Lansing, Michigan, Irene Armstrong, Melissa Warren, , Loretta Armstrong, and Arlene Cooper all of Muskegon, Michigan and Patricia Warren of Dallas, Texas and two brothers; James McMurray of Lansing, Michigan and Robert Lee Armstrong Jr. of Muskegon, Michigan. Special aunts; Josephine Goins, Patsy McKinney, Marvella Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; Gary Armstrong and James Darnell, and one sister; Betty Armstrong. VISITATION will be 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday November 25, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, (6291 S. Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444). Due to state restrictions, masks will be required and a maximum of 25 persons indoors will be allowed. Please be courteous with the time spent with the family as others will be waiting. GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be 2:30 PM Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Mona View Cemetery (3335 Mona View Dr, Muskegon Heights, MI 49444) with Pastor Kendria Armstrong, officiating.
