Gwenllyn Lee Wallfred's Obituary
Mrs. Gwenllyn Lee (Kiehl) Wallfred, age 91, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 in Fruitport, Michigan. She was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska on June 6, 1934 to Arthur and Freda (Idler) Kiehl. Gwen grew up in Fairmont, MN and enjoyed working in the family bakery business. She was a stay-at-home mother and couldn’t have been prouder of her family. On September 9, 1956, she married John C. Wallfred in Fairmont, Minnesota. She and John enjoyed spending time with their family and wintering in Florida. She also enjoyed walking, aerobics, and keeping an active lifestyle. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John; her parents; and brother, Wendell Kiehl. She is survived by her two children, Robert Wallfred and Jeanne (Ken) James; two grandsons, Jesse (Yasuo) Tryon and Zachary Tyler; sister, Roberta Kiehl; and several nieces and nephews and their families. SERVICES for Gwen will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 11, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be next to her husband in Spring Lake Cemetery.
