Hannah Mary Walters' Obituary
Hannah Mary “HM” (Oates) Walters, 91, passed away on April 13, 2018, at DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Michigan. The youngest of 8 children and the lone survivor, she was born in Romney, WV, on December 13, 1926, to Rumsey F. and Hannah J. Loy Oates. She was the loving wife of Herbert “Doc” Walters, D. O. (dec. April 13, 1975).
HM balanced a life as mother in Norton Shores, Mich, and as manager of “Doc’s” office in Hesperia, Mich. “After “Doc’s” death, she relocated to Romney, WV, where HM worked in accounts receivable for Accounting Services and then Eastern Building Supply and finally at Big Apple Mortgage in Winchester, VA.
Loving and devoted to her family and friends, she hosted many gatherings at her home with good food, laughter and games where there was always room for one more! We especially appreciate our cousins’, Beth and John Zeilor and Dan Oates, who watched over Mom during her years in Romney.
HM was admired and appreciated by all who knew her and deeply loved by her children. She was truly an amazing woman!
She is survived by her children, Ruth Ramsey, Herbert Walters, Jr., Patricia Burch (and Chuck) and Deborah Walters; stepson Fred Walters (and Karen); her grandchildren Keith Ramsey (and Tabitha), Ryan Walters (and Randi), Sean Walters, Eric Walters, Cara Harvey (and Cody) and Angie Smith; step-grandchildren Andrew Walters (and Angeline) and Nikki Cotton (and John); and great-grandchildren, Ariana Ramsey, Isabella Ramsey and Codie Volkers; step-great-grandchildren Riley Cotton, Hannah Cotton, Asprey Walters, Ainsley Walters.
