Harley B. Husid's Obituary
Mr. Harley Blaire Husid, age 61, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 after a short recurring battle with cancer. Harley was born on February 16, 1958 to Harry and Helen (Luria) Husid in Newark, NJ. He attended Oakland Community College and Grand Valley State University where he obtained degrees in Hospitality Management. Harley had a long standing passion for photography. He also loved nature, hiking, and the great outdoors. He combined his two favorite hobbies by honing his skills as an amateur photographer, that kept many in awe of his artistic output of the landscapes and views of West Michigan. He also enjoyed attending Bee and Jay Mansfield’s athletic events and photographing them. As an avid swimmer, he would swim daily, at the Spring Lake Fitness and Aquatic Center. For him he would say, “It’s just me and that black line.” But more than the swimming, Harley garnered so many great friendships there that become like family to him. Simple pleasures, a peaceful, relaxed lifestyle with lifelong friendships, and good conversations are what made Harley the man that will be remembered by many. Harley was preceded in death by his father, Harry, in 1980, his mother, Helen, in 2014, and his brother and hero, Warren, in 2002. He is survived by his sister-in-law Mary Mansfield Husid of Muskegon; nephews, Brenden and Jaylen Mansfield of Muskegon; cousins, Eric and Catherine Luria of Mexico, Bruce and Susan Luria as well Mark and Debra Luria all of West Bloomfield, Carol Smolen of FL, Barbara Muller of CT, (Alan Warner) and Joanne Levitan of NC; many other nieces and nephews; and David Fishbein and family of Israel, Harley’s oldest best friend and brother through time. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE is being held at Lakeside Cemetery on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM with Rabbi Alan Alpert is officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Warren and Mary Husid Culinary Fund at The Community Foundation for Muskegon County or a charity of your choice.
