Harley O. Thies' Obituary
Harley O. Thies, age 82, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021 at Mercy Hospital. He was born May 31, 1939 in Big Lake, MN to Herman J. and Ruby (James) Thies and lived in the area since 1993. Harley married Evelyn I. Burns on February 7, 1976 and she preceded him in death on November 23, 2020. He worked as a galley cook for Seafarers and retired in 2002 after 37 years. Harley enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, Evelyn. Survivors include 2 children, Linda and Darrin Thies; 5 step-children, Janith E. Bryson, Kenneth M. (Cheryll) Dulinski, Rhonda K. (Kirk) Tornow, Shamarie Six, Danny G. (Kristy) Six; 7 grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren; 1 brother, James Thies; and 1 sister-in-law, Leida Thies; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn I. Thies; his mother, Ruby Coppag; his father, Herman Thies; 2 brothers, Richard and Charles Thies. Interment will take place at Blaine Township Cemetery in Benzie County.
