PFC Harold B. Dulyea's Obituary
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency recently announced that U.S. Army Pfc. Harold B. Dulyea, age 23, was killed during the Korean War and was accounted for May 30, 2025. In July, 1950, Pfc Dulyea was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was reported missing in action on July 25, 1950 after the Battle of Yongdong in the vicinity of Yondong, Republic of Korea (South Korea). Based on testimonies from returning prisoners of war, it was determined that Pfc. Dulyea was a prisoner of war but was not among the POW’s repatriated after the armistice agreement was signed on July 27, 1953. The Army determined that he had died in captivity and on February 25, 1954, issued a presumptive finding of death. Pfc. Dulyea has been awarded the Purple Heart (Posthumous), Prisoner of War Medal (Posthumous), Army Good Conduct Medal (Posthumous), National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantryman Badge (Posthumous), United Nations Service Medal, and Republic of Korea-Korean War Service Medal. Pfc. Dulyea was a lifelong resident of Twin Lake, MI until he enlisted in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Diana Dulyea; Maxine Dulyea Neimeyer, sister, Natalie Dulyea Brouhard, sister, Ralph Dulyea, brother, Wayne Dulyea, brother, Bernice (Fern) Dulyea Doctor, sister, Jacquie Brouhard Patch, niece. He is survived by Marilynn Brouhard McDermott, niece, Bradley (Shirley) Dulyea, nephew, Joel (Maryjo) Dulyea, nephew, Teresa Dulyea-Parker, niece, Larre Brouhard, nephew, Harold Tuck Brouhard, nephew, Scott Rollenhagen, nephew, Greg Rollenhagen, nephew, Susan Rollenhagen, niece, Kathy Rollenhagen, niece; and several generations of nieces and nephews.

Pfc. Dulyea will arrive to the Kent County Airport in Grand Rapids, MI at 2:15 PM Wednesday, October 15, 2025 where a Repatriation Ceremony will take place and a procession will bring his flag-draped casket to The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441. For those wishing to pay their respects to Pfc. Dulyea, a Public Visitation will be held 1-3PM Thursday, October 16, 2025 at The Walburn Chapel. A Graveside Service with full military honors will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 17, 2025 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012.
