Mr. Harold Roy "Hal" Gibbs' Obituary
Mr. Harold Roy “Hal” Gibbs, age 87, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at Sanctuary of the Shore in Grand Haven. He was born June 1, 1924 in Shelby, MI to Harry and Kittie (Bates) Gibbs and lived in the area his entire life. Prior to retirement in 1986, he worked as a machinist for over 30 years with Howmet Corp where he was also active with the Union. Hal was a member of the VFW. He was a Harley-Davidson fan and was an amateur go-cart enthusiast. He also played the accordion, concertina and harmonica. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Terri A. (Kim) Musick of Fullerton, CA, Shelby J. LeBaron of Norton Shores, Kittie M. (Dennis) Fessenden of Modesto, CA, Penny L. (Les) Franklin of Arizona; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister Betty (Harold) Colby of Rothbury; several nieces and nephews and his best friend, a Pomeranian named “Harley”. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Eldrin Gibbs. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100.
