Harold Kramer's Obituary
Mr. Harold Kramer, age 86, passed away Monday, August 8, 2005 at his home. Harold was born March 7, 1919 to Charles and Kate(Housemam) Kramer in New Era. He served his country as a squad leader in the US Army in Rhineland during WWII where he crossed the Remagen Bridge with his squad. On September 14, 1949 he married the former Gwethalyn “Gwen” Kalman in Muskegon. She preceded him in death on July 31, 1993. Mr. Kramer was a former member of East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church and Orchard View Congregational Church. He was employed as a tool and die maker with American Coil Spring for 37 years. Harold volunteered for many years for the Muskegon Rescue Mission where he also served on the board. He was a past member of the Greater Muskegon Optimist Club and also had been active on the MCC Mayfest committee. He was very involved in the Gideon’s where he brought bibles to Mexico and also helped build churches there. Harold enjoyed golfing, woodworking and carpentry. He was an avid fisherman and loved nature. Mr. Kramer is survived by his fiancée, Virginia M. Hughes; his children, Kathryn Vaandering of Muskegon, David (Jan) Kramer of Holland and Elizabeth (Russell) Phillips of Whitehall;; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Ruth Draft of Muskegon. with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. Full Military rites will be afforded by VFW Muskegon County Council. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
