Harold John Mattson's Obituary
Mr. Harold John Mattson, age 80, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 in Zephyrhills, Florida. He was born on March 16, 1939 to Arvid and Vendla (Steyv) Mattson in Muskegon Heights. Harold worked at General Motors as a tool and die maker for 19 years. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1957 and married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Smith on January 11, 1958. He served his country while in the United States Navy from 1958-1960. Harold and Bonnie enjoyed spending their summer at Silver Lake and heading to Florida for the cold winter months. He was known to collect “stuff,” and liked perusing flea markets and garage sales. Harold will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie; children Teri (Larry) Bectel, Mark (Laura) Mattson and Lori Mattson (fiancé Monte Koehler); nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Richard) Grammel; and trusted sidekick, Muffin. He was preceded in death by his infant great-granddaughter, Emily Bectel; siblings, Ruth Mattson, Paul Mattson and Harry Mattson; and parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 11AM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, November 25 from 5-7PM.
