Harold Shell's Obituary
Harold W. Shell, age 90, of Grand Haven passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at a local care facility. He was born August 16, 1923 in Powell, Tennessee to Millard and Flossie (Evans) Shell.
Harold served his country as a Marine during WWII. He married the former Mary Joan Corbin on June 25, 1949 and together they raised six children. Harold earned his Master’s degree of Arts at Michigan State University. He was the Director of the Ottawa County Technical School and the Director of Vocational Education at Grand Haven High School. Harold was a former member of Lakeshore Baptist Church. He enjoyed walking and especially loved music; He played the guitar, banjo, violin, and piano.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 65 years; sons, David (Billia) Shell of Nashville, Tennessee and Ronald (Christa) Shell of Sennfeld, Germany; daughters: Carol (Douglas) Smith of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Nancy (Gary) Kay of Lansing, Michigan, Gloria (Jos) VanderLinden of Kentwood, Michigan, and Linda (Wyatt) Rinkel of Huntsville, Alabama. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; as well as five brothers: Basil, Bill, Jack, Don and Jerry. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Flossie.
