Mr. Harold J. Smith, age 76, passed away Thursday evening, October 2, 2003 in Muskegon. He was born March 13, 1927 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Jesse and Florence (King) Smith, and moved to the Muskegon area about 50 years ago. He was a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church, was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, belonged to the Jaycees, the Exhausted Roosters, the Masonic Lodge #139, the Scottish Rite, the Saladin Shrine, was a honorary member of the Noachite Lodge #507 F & AM in Muskegon, and cooked corn for the Coast Guard Retirees Dinner for 41 years. Harold married Lois Jean Blanchard on December 12, 1953, and she preceded him in death on October 8, 1971. He later married Judy Ann McClouth on June 22, 1974, and she survives him along with 5 sons, Craig Donald (Linda) of Middleville, MI, Corey Michael (Sherry) of Arlington, TX, Stephen Jay (Nicci) of Twin Lake, Timothy John, and Kenneth James, both of Fruitport; 5 grandchildren, Kalina, David, Jamie, Jeremy, and Brian. He was also preceded in death by his mother and father, and a brother. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Crestwood United Methodist Church, with Rev. Victor D. Charnley officiating. A time of gathering with the family will be 1 hour prior to the memorial service. A private family service will take place at the Lakeshore Cemetery in Grand Haven.
