Harold Dale Broek's Obituary
Mr. Harold Dale Broek, age 59, passed away Tuesday evening, November 30, 2004. Harold was born November 19, 1945 in Muskegon, Michigan. He graduated from Reeths-Puffer High School in Muskegon in 1963 and married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Lynn Herrick. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 20 years as a warrior leader for his country during the turbulent Vietnam Era, retiring in 1983 as a Captain. Shortly after his retirement from the United States Air Force, he completed his MBA from the University of LaVerne. Harold’s second career began in Denver, Colorado with Martin Marietta. He later accepted a position with Washington Consulting Group that took him and his family to various states, including Virginia, Washington, Maryland, and Oklahoma. He left Advancia Corporation as Vice-President of Operations to return home to Muskegon. He currently attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with his family. His favorite pastime was the fighting of salmon and halibut in the pristine waters of Alaska. SURVIVORS include his wife, Bonnie Lynn (Herrick) Broek; four sons, Harold Dale (Susan) Broek, Jr. of Washington, Kenneth John (Phyllis) Broek of Washington, Sandon Dean (Sharlet) Broek of Alaska, and Dustin Lyn (Janina) of Washington; 11 grandchildren, Megan, Harold Dale III, Joshua, Andreauna, Tabitha, Mykala, Jozia, Michael, Bridget, and Gabrielle; his mother, Alice Broek of Lake Orion; his brother, Richard (Judy) Broek of Lake Orion; his sister, Burt (Lonnie) Conroy of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Robert (1926-2002) and his granddaughter, Bonnie (2000-2002). VISITATION with Harold’s family will be 2-4 PM Sunday, December 5, 2004 at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 PM Sunday. THE FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated on his 41st wedding anniversary, Monday, December 6, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Robert A. Hart presiding. INTERMENT with Full Military Honors will be conducted at Laketon Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBTIONS may be made to the American Heart Association.
