Harold E. Burkall's Obituary
Harold went home to be with his LORD, Saturday March 21, 2009. Born to Peter and Marie (Schmidt) Burkall in Muskegon on April 26, 1920. Peter immigrated to the U.S. from Denmark and opened his business, Burkall Service, a business that Harold continued to operate until 1964. At that time, Harold went to work for Mona Shores Schools until his retirement in 1982. Harold also owned and operated R & B Auto Sales from 1964 -1968 in Muskegon. Harold was a WWII Veteran entering the service in 1941, and served with the 14th Army Air Corp in China, Burma, and India. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his Heroism. He is survived by his wife, Patsy (Fredericksen) and children; Colleen (Brent) Lindquist of California, Brent (Kristi) Burkall of Fruitport, Lance (LouAnn) Karum of Norton Shores, Nancy (Roger) Johnson of Norton Shores, Robert Karum of Roosevelt Park and Sandra (David) Forester; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Arthur (Delores), Alvin and Ronald (Donna) Burkall; and 2 sisters, Norma Tyler and Audrey Neiser along with many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ted; and two sisters, Marie Jensen and Alma Haas. The MEMORIAL SERVICE with full military rights to honor the life and death of Harold will be 2 PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. David A. Selleck officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 1-2P.M. Memorial Contributions to Hackley VNS Hospice will be appreciated.
