Harold J. Vegter's Obituary
Mr. Harold J. Vegter, age 77, died November 10, 2003 in California. He was born August 30, 1926 in Muskegon to Jay and Harmina (Toppen) Vegter, and had lived in Muskegon until moving to California in 1993 to be by his daughter. Mr. Vegter worked for S.D. Warren for 18 years before retiring in 1991. He was a former member of Central United Methodist Church. SURVIVORS include his son, Rev. Jack H. (Trudy) Vegter. They are Assembly of God Missionaries serving in Quito, Ecuador South America, working in children’s ministries. Jack teaches in the International Christian School. Harold Vegter’s daughter, Barbara J. (Gary) Patterson resides in Fresno, CA with her family, where she is a teacher in a local school system. Five grandchildren: Chelsea Joy Vegter graduated from Evangel University, Springfield, MO in May of 2004, and is currently on a 2 year mission assignment in Thailand with the Assemblies of God; Matthew Patterson is serving in the U.S. Navy on a submarine; Jeremy Patterson is serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany; Aaron Patterson, age 12, is in seventh grade; and his brother, Timmy, age 10, is in fifth grade. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 2, 2004 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Randall R. Hansen officiating.
