Harold J. "Stub" Cross' Obituary
Mr. Harold J. “Stub” Cross, age 81, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2004 in Muskegon. He was born April 29, 1922 to Clifford and Ora Bell (Eaton) Cross in Muskegon and was a life resident. Mr. Cross was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force and had served in WWII. He was a machinist at The Norge and Sheldons before retiring from Security Steel. Stub was a professional musician and played in different country and polka variety bands. He was a member of the Muskegon Eagles and enjoyed baseball and fishing. On June 7, 1947 in Muskegon, he married Virginia M. Stickney and she survives him along with 4 children, Sandy Walker, Gloria Cross, Carol Cross, Greg (Diane) Cross; 7 grandchildren, Lori (David) Birr, Eric Walker, Scott Koone, Carrie (John) Munroe, Wendi (Greg) Thomas, Andy and Leslie Cross; 11 great grandchildren, Casey, Zachary, Sarah, Alec, Trevor, Anna, Kyle, C.J., Jacob, April, Autumn; 1 brother, Doug Cross; 1 sister, Connie (Don) Tetzloff; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, William who was killed in WWII, Charles, and Gordon Cross; and 1 sister, Carol Hofmann. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11AM Tuesday, March 23, at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Rev. David Selleck officiating.VISITATION with the family will be Monday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210.
