Harriet A. Kroeze's Obituary
Harriet Ann Kroeze, age 96, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022. She was born April 16, 1925 in Muskegon to William and Florence (Clover) Griffith. Harriet graduated from Muskegon High School in 1943 and went on to achieve a Registered Nurse degree from St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, IL. Following college, she was a Nurse Cadet in California for WWII veterans. She moved back to Muskegon and worked as an RN for Dr. Scholle’s office and Hackley Hospital. She also co-owned Quigley Draperies. She continued working there until 2022. On February 10, 1951, she married Roy J. Kroeze in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2010. Harriet was a lifelong member of First Congregational Church of Muskegon, where she volunteered in the office. She was a former member of the Muskegon Service League, Muskegon Country Club, and the YMCA of Muskegon Aqua Fit class. She was a Caberfae Ski Club member for many years, enjoyed gardening, was an avid nutritionist, and enjoyed travel. She also loved get togethers with family and friends. Harriet will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by 2 children: Greg (Debra) Kroeze and Carol (Gary) Beatty; 4 grandchildren: Lisa (Tom) Mullins, Michael Percy II, Maleah (Scott) Rakestraw, and Tyler (Kinsey) Horringa; 4 great-grandchildren: James and Sophia Mullins, Quentin and Brecken Horringa; sister-in-law, Lois Libby; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister, June Freye; 2 brothers-in-law: Austin Freye and Wayne Libby. A memorial service for Harriet will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at First Congregational Church of Muskegon. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to First Congregational Church of Muskegon or Kid’s Food Basket will be appreciated.
