Harry C. "Cort" Rorapaugh's Obituary
Harry C. “Cort” Rorapaugh, age 89, passed away Friday evening, June 17, 2016 in Muskegon, MI. He was born August 12, 1926 in Harrisburg, PA to Harry E. and Ester (Allen) Rorapaugh. Following high school, Cort joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during WWII. On August 22, 1948 he married Louise E. Auxer in Goldsboro, PA and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2014. He had worked for the U.S. government as a Federal civil servant for 30 years, worked 10 years for McDonell Douglas, and 4 years for Boeing, before retiring in 1992. Mr. Rorapaugh was a small business man, a gentleman farmer, and a lover and rescuer of animals great and small. He also was an ice cream enthusiast, belonged to the VFW, American Legion, and the Power Squadron. Cort also enjoyed reading, playing cards, building puzzles, and was a very outgoing and social person. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters: Jerri (John) Pamplin of Clermont, FL, Sharon (Ron) Kiel of Montague, MI; 4 grandchildren: Megan, Braden, Alyn, and Alanah; brother, Jack Rorapaugh of York Haven, PA; sister-in-law, Betsy (Gary) Green of Colorado; special friends, Joe and Corrine Sini of Geneva, FL; extended family; and many life-long friends across the country. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother; and sister-in-law, Buena Rorapaugh. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Eagles Cemetery in New Era/Grant Twp. with Pastor Mary Brown officiating. There will also be a memorial service at the Village at the Oaks on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Veldt officiating. Memorials to the Oceana County Humane Society or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
