Harry Shatney's Obituary
Mr. Harry Shatney, age 92, passed away early Friday morning at a local nursing home. Harry was born July 18, 1913 in Manistee, MI to John and Helen R. (Siuda) Shatney.
On July 4, 1936 he married the former Dorothy Dertien in Muskegon. Harry had lived
in the Lakeside area for over 85 years, having worked as a foreman at George Morrell Corporation for over 38 years. He was a long time member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Harry had been a member of the Muskegon Recreation Club, where he had been manager for 20 years, as well as a member of the Muskegon Fraternal Order of Eagles. Harry also enjoyed fishing and boating. SURVIVORS include his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; 2 children Robert (Judy) Shatney of Muskegon and Patricia (Robert) Baker of Spring Lake; 5 grandchildren, Jeannie (Dan) Colella, Craig (Leslie) Shatney, Todd (Jill) Baker, Kristin (Steve) Slawson, and Nichole Baker; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Theodore Shatney and Donald (LuAnne) Staffney both of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Marie Greenwald and Doris (David) Covell both of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Bud, Jerry, and Jack; and 1 sister, Isabelle Stolt. A MASS OF REMEMBRANCE will be held 11 AM Monday, August 22, 2005 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, Marian Chapel( 2929 McCracken) with Rev. Fr. Louis R. Stasker officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to St. Francis deSales Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
