Harry Louis Stapel's Obituary
Mr. Harry Louis Stapel, age 83, went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 2, 2018. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on December 12, 1934 to Ray L. and Verle H. (Gonyo) Stapel. Harry was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of IBEW Local 275 and was a self-employed electrical contractor prior to his retirement in 2003. Harry was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and enjoyed judging and training horses. He also enjoyed flying model airplanes, drones, playing the dulcimer, and round dancing with his wife, Geraldine. Harry and Geraldine traveled extensively. Some of their favorite destinations were Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Ireland. He was active with church, Boy Scouts, and most importantly, with his family. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On August 25, 1956, Harry married the former Geraldine J. Dennison in Muskegon and she survives him along with their sons, Rick A. Stapel, Scott L. (Brian J. Fetterman) Stapel, Todd E. (Kathryn) Stapel; two grandsons, Justin (Tiamarie) Stapel and Gerad Stapel; one great-grandson, Isiah Stapel; two special great-grandchildren, Bailey and Cooper Pulos; brother, Lavern (Dorothy) Stapel; sister, Donna (Gary) Rinckey; sisters-in-law, Juanita Moseler, Donna (Don) Carpenter, Judy (Leo) Harman; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Edgar DeJong. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. John Ferra officiating. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Friday, July 6, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 and one hour prior to his service at church on Saturday. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS in Harry’s memory may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
