Harry VanDyke's Obituary
Mr. Harry VanDyke, age 93, died Wednesday evening, March 5, 2008 in Muskegon. He was born June 1, 1914 in Muskegon to Peter and Alma (Richeson) VanDyke and has resided in the area most of his life. Harry had been employed at S.D. Warren for 10 years and Naph-Sol Refinery for 22 years prior to his retirement. Harry was a member and Past Governor of Moose Lodge #491. He was also a member of VFW Post # 446 and of the Muskegon Conservation Club. Harry spent winters in Bradenton, FL at the Sugar Creek Resort. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Stephen (Darleen) VanDyke of North Muskegon, Sheila Parketon of Muskegon, Kurt (Judy) VanDyke of Muskegon, Shirley (Ken) Brink of North Muskegon and Mark (Gayle) VanDyke of Whitehall; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 2 sisters, Dorothy Larsen of Kalamazoo and Millie (Jay) Wickstra of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Loretta VanDyke of WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Oscar Olson; 2 sons, Kevin & Barry VanDyke; 2 brothers, Peter VanDyke and Marty Olson and by 1 brother-in-law, Arthur Larsen. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Friday, May 2, 2008 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210)with Pastor Chip Hackney officiating. Burial will be in Mona View Cemetery. MEMORIAL GIFTS to VNS Hospice will be appreciated.
