Harry W. Baldwin's Obituary
Mr. Harry W. Baldwin, age 93, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2003. He was born August 14, 1910 in Muskegon, MI to Glen and Mary Louise (Becker) Baldwin and lived his entire life in the area. On October 27, 1936, he married the former Irene J. Katt in Grand Rapids, MI and she preceded him in death on December 27, 1988. Mr. Baldwin worked as a carpenter and had been a member of the Carpenters Local 100 of Muskegon for 65 years. He was raised at the Muskegon Country Club and had played golf since age 7 until he was age 92. He enjoyed fishing brook trout on the Betsie River. He also enjoyed woodworking and was known for building bluebird houses. Mr. Baldwin was a member of Fifth Reformed Church. SURIVORS include 2 daughters, Joyce Smith of Spring Lake and Phyllis Baldwin of Holland; 3 grandchildren, Scott (Cindy) Smith of Grand Rapids, Craig (Denise) Smith of North Muskegon, Marc (Sarah) Smith of Spring Lake; 2 great-grandsons, Noah Steven Smith and Nathan Edward Smith; 2 sisters, Helen Hathaway of Muskegon and Ruth Anderson of Whitehall; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Harvey Baldwin. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Fifth Reformed Church with the Rev. Norman Swier officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION with Mr. Baldwin’s family will be 3-4 PM Saturday at the church.
