Harvey R. Curtis' Obituary
Harvey R. Curtis, age 95, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at home. He was born on September 1, 1927, to Nathan and Florence (Houghton) in Utica, MI. In his earlier years, Harvey worked for 20+ years as a brick layer, before becoming a tool maker and dedicating many years to Tower Tool and Macomb Tool. On June 3, 1950, he married the love of his life, Vera Newbold in Utica, MI. Together they cherished 69 years of marriage full of love, laughter and many adventures. Harvey was known to be a jack of all trades and could fix anything he set his mind to. He was a gifted gardener, masonry, photographer and craftsman. He enjoyed making handmade wood carvings, traveling with Vera in their motorhome and watching Game Show Network in his later years. Above all things, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered as loving husband, proud father, doting grandpa and great-grandpa, wonderful brother, and dear friend to many. He is survived by his 2 children, Vicie Curtis and Steven (Annette) Curtis; 3 grandchildren, Abbey (Charles) Ritter, Jaclyn (Matt) Gregory and Karen (Christopher) Cross; 9 great-grandchildren, Grace, Paul, Nicholas, Ben, Anna, Madelynn, Analeigh, Naomi and Josiah; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Lois “Jo” Curtis Bamberga. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera Curtis; son, Scott Curtis; and 2 brothers, Jack Curtis and Henry Curtis. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
