Harvey L. Wierenga's Obituary
Harvey L. Wierenga, age 96, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was born February 25, 1929, in Muskegon to Egbert and Marguerite (Houseman) Wierenga. Harvey was a graduate of Muskegon High School and honorably served his country in both the U.S. Army and Navy. On November 5, 1953, he married the love of his life, Lois M. Palsrok, in Muskegon. Together, they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage before her passing on July 30, 2024. Harvey was a member of Laketon Bethel Church and found great joy in traveling with Lois, spending many winters in Florida. He loved being outdoors—taking walks, sailing, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed reading and watching Westerns, playing BINGO, working on puzzles, and spending time with friends over board games and cards, especially at their park in Okeechobee, Florida. Harvey’s warm spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. SURVIVORS include two children: Patricia (Richard) Knight and Bill Wierenga both of Muskegon; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sons: Michael and Robert Wierenga. A private family graveside service for Harvey will be held at Laketon Twp. Cemetery.
