Harvey E. Johnson's Obituary
Mr. Harvey E. Johnson, age 85, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Poppen Residence. He was born January 20, 1926 in Kimball, NE to Oscar and Ebba (Nilsson) Johnson. Harvey served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and had been employed in the engineering department at Grand Haven Stamp Products until his retirement. He was past vice-president and Deacon of Edgewood Lutheran Church and was a member of the Muskegon Hts. Eagles and the American Legion Post # 28. He was active in both bowling and golf leagues and enjoyed dining out. He married the former Betty Shaffer in Ludington, MI on November 15, 1947. She survives him along with their children, Wayne (Zenaida) Johnson of N. Muskegon, Michael Johnson, Patti (Robert) Johnson and Shelley (Dennis) Powell all of Spring Lake; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Kenneth (Sherry) Johnson of Ludington, MI; 2 sisters, Evelyn (Marshall Mattis) Fearnow of Ludington and Pauline Kremer of Los Angeles, CA; step-sister, Glenna Uyeda of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Andrew Johnson. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. Pastor Earl Merz officiating. VISITATION will be Sunday, 2-4 p.m. Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest in Spring Lake Cemetery. Those desiring an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Parkinson’s Association of West Michigan.
