Hazel Elaine Schofield's Obituary
Hazel Elaine Schofield, age 87, of Muskegon, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Hazel was born on October 3, 1929 to Arthur and Ida (Reside) Nelson in Muskegon. On November 25, 1949, she married Thomas Schofield and together they were blessed with three children. Hazel enjoyed music, gardening, flowers and her cats. She was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and she loved spending time with her family. She was the last living Charter member of Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church. Hazel is survived by her children, Dale Schofield, Thomas Schofield and Laurie (Mark) Kohlbeck; grandchildren, Adam Schofield, Josh and Nikki Kohlbeck; and her sister, Marilyn Gramza. Hazel is also survived by her special friends, Kurt Malotke; and his children, Charlie, Chealsea and K.C. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; and her granddaughter Katie Schofield. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church, 4283 N Weber Rd. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and 1 hour prior to the Service. Contributions can be made to Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church Memorial Fund.
