Hazel E. Cook's Obituary
Mrs. Hazel E. Cook, age 93, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday morning, November 1, 2006, in Muskegon. She was born December 30, 1912 in Muskegon to Luray & Susan (Allen) Boyd and had been a life resident of the area and was a descendant of a Michigan Centennial Family. Mrs. Cook was a member of Mona Shores Baptist Church where she had served as a Deaconess. She had 998 hours of volunteer service as a Foster Grandparent at Muskegon Developmental Center; and had vounteered100 hours for the Ground Observer Corps. Hazel also was a weather observer and honorary member of Civil Defense Team. She wrote short poems and stories with some being published in the Senior Perspectives of Muskegon. On May 10, 1932 she married Earl Cook and he preceded her in death February of 1968. She was also preceded in death by 3 children, James in 1971, Janice in 1983 and Tom in 1998; and by 1 brother and 2 sisters. SURVIVORS include her son, David and his wife, Sandra Cook of Muskegon; 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. SERVICES will be 11 AM Monday, November 6, 2006 at Mona Shores Baptist Church (3800 Lake Harbor Rd.) with Pastor Thomas Siefert officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with Hazel’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 (231-759-8565).
