Hazel E. Kamp-Sterenberg's Obituary
Mrs. Hazel Elaine Kamp-Sterenberg, age 89, went to be with her Lord on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2011, at her residence. She was born April 5, 1922 in Spring Lake, MI to Bert and Bessie (Kass) Holstege and had been a life resident of the area. Hazel had been a homemaker and beautician prior to her retirement; and enjoyed reading, crocheting and playing shuffle board. Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church of Spring Lake and had previously taught Sunday School. She married William Kamp, who preceded her in death on September 14, 1987. She then married Jay Sterenberg,and became very fond of the entire Sterenberg Family. Jay preceded her in death on November 25, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her infant-daughter, Karen; grandson, Richard “Rick” Kamp; 3 brothers, John, LaVerne and Earl Holstege and by 1 sister, Margaret Nelson. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Karen (Richard) Scott of Spring Lake, Vern (Diana) Kamp of Clio, MI and Kenneth (Cynthia) Kamp of Spring Lake; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and by 2 special nieces, Doris (Harry) Way and Jeanne (Ron) Maycroft. SERVICES be 11 AM Thursday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100)with Pastor Douglas Bytwerk, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. VISITATION with Hazel’s family will be 5-8PM Wednesday and 10-11:00 AM Thursday, prior to the service.
