Heather Schnurstein's Obituary
Mrs. Heather Schnurstein, age 57 of Spring Lake passed away following a short illness. She was born August 2, 1966, in Evergreen Park IL to John and Marcia Cosgrove. On October 13, 1990, she married Gregory Schnurstein in Winfield IL.
Heather graduated from Michigan State University where she met her husband Greg bowling in the hallway of Armstrong Hall and instantly fell in love. She graduated with a Major in English. After graduating she started her career working in banking. She began as a personal banker and ended her career as a Business Controls Manager for Fifth Third Bank. Over the years she worked all over the country for First National Bank of Chicago, Chase Bank, Huntington Bank, Bank of America and Fifth Third Bank. She was an avid runner which she passed down to her two daughters. In 2000, she completed the Chicago Marathon. She was a talented singer even though her kids poked fun at her when she did. She enjoyed time on her boat or any occasion to be by the water. She also enjoyed classic literature, and animals, especially dogs. She will be greatly missed by her dear family, who she loved endlessly. She was an incredible mother, thoughtful sister, loving niece, and caring aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband of almost 34 years, Greg; four children: Tyler, Kaitlin, Jillian and Matthew; brothers, Brian (Crystal) Cosgrove, Christopher (Jennifer) Cosgrove; in-laws, Dale and Veronica Schnurstein; sister-in-law, Susan (Kevin) Montsatson. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marica (Bob) Kies.
Heather was very passionate about animal rescue, having rescued her best friend, Benny the hound. Her favorite organization was Tracy’s Paws Rescue.
