Heather F. Sturr's Obituary
Heather Falony Sturr, age 56, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 21, 1964 to Albert and Jean Falony. On September 12, 1987, Heather married Eric Sturr and together they raised three boys, Brendan, Alec and Connor. Heather received her BFA from Kendall College of Art & Design and went on to Marygrove College where she earned her Master’s in Education. Her teaching career began in elementary education in the Spring Lake School District and the last 23 years were spent at Mona Shores as an art teacher. She loved her students and always told them “You can turn an ‘oops’ into an ‘aha!’” Heather enjoyed drawing with colored pencils, playing euchre, and taking slow boat rides which she called “her happy place.” She loved hunting for Petoskey stones up north and shark teeth on Florida trips. Heather always had a smile for everyone and a hug for her students in and out of school. She was a proud hockey, soccer, and band mom and enjoyed tailgating Saturday mornings for Michigan State. Heather will be missed by her husband, Eric; sons, Brendan Sturr (Alyssa Osika), Alec Sturr (fiancée, Caitlin Blackmer), and Connor Sturr (fiancée, Abby Green); siblings, Brian (Nancy) Falony and Lynne (Larry) Osborn; brothers-in-law, Mark Sturr, Kurt (Jeanne) Sturr, Tomas (Beth) Sturr, and John (Madeline Ritchie) Sturr; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Jamie Smith and Dacia LeRoux; and her puggle, Cali, who always had a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Falony and Jean (Lawrence) Falony Poulson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 19 at 3PM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, February 18 from 5-8PM at church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family is asking guests to be considerate of capacity restrictions at both the visitation and mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mona Shores Education Foundation, Muskegon Museum of Art, or Noah Project.
