Mr. Hector H. Radel "Doc"'s Obituary
Hector “Doc” H. Radel, age 94, passed away on July 19, 2015. Hector was born on April 28, 1921. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. In 1947 he married the former Dawn Niesen and together they were blessed with 9 children. Much of his life he worked for the City of Muskegon Heights. Hector was a member of the Muskegon Railroad Historical Society, Muskegon Motorcycle Club and volunteered at Mercy Hospital. He enjoyed woodworking, Lionel Trains, and NASCAR. He was a fun, humorous, easy-going, hardworking man who will be deeply missed. Hector is survived by his 9 children, Mark (Mary) Radel, Kevin (Nora) Radel, Curt (Sheri) Radel, Bronwyn (Susan) Radel, Aleta (Gary) Rasmussen, Kelly (Pat) Radel, Pam Wessel, Beth Stehouwer, and Todd Radel; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Glen Cooper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn; his parents, Henry and Nellie Radel; and sisters, Marcia Snider and Mamie Cooper. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Muskegon Railroad Historical Society.
