Mrs. Helen A. Gahan's Obituary
Mrs. Helen A. Gahan, 100, passed away Monday evening, November 7, 2016, in Muskegon. She was born August 30, 1916 to Thomas and Sofia (Adamczyk) Miskowiec in Sullivan Towhship, and moved into Muskegon in 1943. Helen worked at Teledyne Continental Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1973, and was an active longtime member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She enjoyed being involved with the Women’s Guild at church and volunteering for the Spaghetti Dinners. She also was active with Senior Resources organizing Christmas with Santa. Helen loved to garden and do different crafts, but most of all she loved being with her family. On June 23, 1945, she married Joseph R. Gahan, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1990. Helen is survived by 3 children, Andrea Sotelo, Alana (Kenneth) Leutscher, Missy (Randy) Ruch; 6 grandchildren, Jack Gahan, Kari Gahan, Jeff (Mary) Leutscher, Hilary Hysell, Chad (Cory) Leutscher, Sofia Ortiz; 6 great-grandchildren, Josh, Katie, Arden, Emma, Toby and Chloe; many nieces and nephews, including 2 special nieces, Becca Miskowiec and Lauri Wagner; many other special friends and neighbors. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Ron and Jack Gahan; 5 brothers and sisters, Frank and Ted Miskowiec, Toni Rollenhagen, Amelia Pukita and Leona Wagner. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, November 11, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Visitation at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, with the Rosary prayed at 4:30 PM. Burial will take place at Mona View Cemetery.
