Helen M. Helm's Obituary
Helen M. Helm, age 87, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016. She was born on July 25, 1928 in Muskegon to Clayton and Gladys (Gilbert) Johnston. Helen was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. She served as a nurse and industrial nurse over a long career of caring for others. Her passion in life was her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. Helen is survived by her daughters, Karen (Sally Millis) Spoelman, Martha Jane (Les) Webb; grandchildren, Bethanie (Dan) Swier, Gerald (Sandi) Bomers III; great-grandchildren, Laney, Olivia, Addison, Clayton; sister, Ruth Kantola-Paul; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lane Helm; parents; brother, Ralph Johnston; son, Greg Spoelman. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Helen will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church (2577 Wickham Dr.). VISITATION with the family will take place an hour prior to services at the church. Donations in Helen’s name can be made to Mercy VNS Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E.
