Mrs. Helen E. Lewis' Obituary
Mrs. Helen E. Lewis, age 93, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at a local nursing home. Mrs. Lewis was born October 17, 1923 to Theodore and Alice (Horchos) Kolodey in Avoca, PA. On June 8, 1946, she married Clarence G. Lewis and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1991. Helen was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and had been employed with W.T. Grant as a credit manager prior to her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling; and loved singing with the Melodears. Helen also volunteered and served on the advisory board at the Orchard View Senior Center for many years. She is SURVIVED by her son, Larry Lewis; daughters, Patricia Williams and Joann (Ed) Malinowski; 3 grandchildren, Kristi (Clinton) Walker, Tracy (Matt) Fahner, and Muriah (Steve) Davis; and 4 great-grandchildren, Madelyne Walker, Miley Walker, Clinton Mason Walker, and Chase Davis; sister-in-law, Shirley Lindsley; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joseph Kolodey; and sister, Joanna Soberoski. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11 AM Thursday, December 22, 2016 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Ave. with Rev Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 and the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
