Helen Ann Mastenbrook's Obituary
A memorial service and reception to honor the life of Helen Ann Mastenbrook will be will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 7th, at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave).
Helen, 98, was born to Clara and Claus Peterson in Downers Grove, IL. She was raised on a farm in Pine City, MN and moved to Grand Haven in 1941 when she married Harold Mastenbrook.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and retired from the Ottawa County Sheriff Department after thirteen years of service. Helen and Harold enjoyed many years of retirement with friends and family in Florida.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold in 2007; daughter, Peggy Schaefer; grandson, William J. Dews; and Brother, Russell Peterson.
She is survived by daughters, Betty (Joseph) D’Anza of Joliet, IL; Kathy (Bill) Dews of Lake City, FL; and son-in-law, Pat Schaefer of St. Louis, MO. Helen also has three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
