Helen Szubinski's Obituary
Mrs. Helen M. Szubinski, age 90, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018. She was born May 20, 1928 in Grand Rapids to Herman and Lena (Elenbaas) Seif. On April 17, 1952 she married Edward Szubinski at St. James Catholic Church and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Women’s Club. She enjoyed knitting and doted over her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Helen is survived by three daughters: Mary Ann Hutson of South Haven, JoAnn (Michael) Mooney of Grand Rapids, Sally Ann (Robert) Rieger of Richland; one son: Mark (Amy) Szubinski of Canadian Lakes; ten grandchildren: Matthew (Allison) Tanis, Brian (Victoria) Szubinski, David (Bobbi) Hutson, Stephanie (Travis) Tomlinson, Kate Szubinski, Brandon Rieger, Daniel (Kara) Szubinski, Megan (Andrew) Buller, Sarah Mooney, Emily Rieger; and nine great-grandchildren: Lilliana, Reese, Oliver, Jack, Nicholas, Peyton, Sawyer, Taegan, and Emsley. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Seif, and sister-in-law, Helen Seif Schietl; twin grandchildren, Benjamin and Christopher Mooney: son-in-law, Charles Hutson.
A MEMORIAL MASS will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Helen may be given to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Michigan Spina Bifida Family, St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
