Helen A. Herald's Obituary
Mr. Vernon F. Herald, age 88, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Friday evening, May 12, 2006. His beloved wife of 68 years, Helen A. Herald, unexpectedly also passed away Sunday evening, May 14, 2006. Vernon was born September 6, 1917 in Muskegon to George and Marie (Heinold) Herald and had been a life resident. For many years he worked for Buck Construction as a supervisor before his retirement. Helen, age 88, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born April 10, 1918 in Muskegon to Michael and Matilda (Vicen) Vrablic, and had also been a life resident. Mr. and Mrs. Herald were both long-time members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. On October 9, 1937 they married in Muskegon and are survived by 2 children, Darlene Homfeld, Don (Sue) Herald both of Laketon Twp.; 6 grandchildren, Kirstin (Dominic) DeMaio, Julie Herald, Bob (Michelle) Homfeld, Jr., Kathy (Ben) Scheerer, Bob Herald, Brian (Kelly) Homfeld; and 9 great-grandchildren; and Helen’s sisters, Ann Miesch of Muskegon, and Fran (Al) Edwards of Florida. They were preceded in death by their son-in-law, Bob Homfeld, Sr. in 2002, and Helen’s brothers, John and Michael Vrablic. SERVICES for Mr. and Mrs. Herald will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Fr. Joe Ashby presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. MEMORIALS to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund will be appreciated.
