Helen B. (Brandt) Hitt's Obituary
Mrs. Helen (Brandt) Hitt, age 87, of Norton Shores, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 7, 2006 at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City, after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Brandt and Burgess Hitt; her parents; sister, Grace Rood; and brothers, Carl and Laurie Rood. As an energetic, organized, self motivated professional woman, Helen was a private secretary at Continental Motors, Kaydon, and public relations for Marathon Oil Company. She was an enthusiastic member of the National Secretaries Association and Zonta, honorary member of the First Presbyterian Church and Miss Michigan Pageant. After retirement, Helen served as “WE Volunteer Coordinator” of Muskegon County. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Joseph) Novak of Traverse City; brother, Bill (Judy) Rood of Muskegon; grandson, Joel (Missy) Novak; granddaughter, Julie (Ed) Grist; great-grandsons, Landon, Preston, Nathan and Kyle Novak, and Seth Grist of Traverse City.
