Helen L. Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Helen L. Smith, age 85, died Friday morning, October 24, 2003, in North Muskegon. She was born March 17, 1918 to Edward & Hilda Mecher in North Muskegon and resided in Fremont and the Muskegon area most of her life. Helen was a member of Giles Road Baptist Church. On December 22, 1934 she married Howard Smith and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2000. Her parents, 2 children, Darlene & Jimmy; and 2 brothers, Edward & LeRoy Mecher also preceded her in death. SURVIVORS include 6 children, Betty (Harry) Tanner of Muskegon, Nancy Ennis of Grant, Shirley (Harold) Puffer of Twin Lake, Rose (Chan) MacLean of Fremont, Howard E (Susan) Smith of Muskegon and Robert (Sandy) Smith of Montague; 41 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren and by her special friend, Rose Rowe. SERVICES will be 1PM Wednesday at Giles Road Baptist Church (2815 W. Giles Rd.) with Pastor Darrel Storvik officiating. Burial will be in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. VISITATION with Helen’s family will be 6-8PM Tuesday at
