Henrietta "Sarah" Essebaggers' Obituary
Mrs. Henrietta “Sarah” Essebaggers, age 84, passed into glory Friday morning, February 10, 2006. She was born April 17, 1921 in Muskegon to John & Mildred (Martin) DeYoung and has been a life resident of the area. Henrietta was a member of Unity Reformed Church for many years, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was also a member of its Women’s Guild. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, camping and walking. Prior to her retirement in 1981, Henrietta had been a bus driver for Fruitport Schools for 14 years. On December 8, 1939 she married Ernest H. Essebaggers, and he survives her along with 4 children, Wayne (Cory) Essebaggers of Whitehall, Elaine Cooper of Muskegon, Randy (Terri) Essebaggers of Hesperia and Lori (Scott) Fisher of Muskegon; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Doris (William) Newmyer of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Mary DeYoung of Muskegon, and by many nieces and nephews. Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Richard DeYoung; 1 sister, Betty Blink and by her son-in-law, Lewis E. Cooper. SERVICES will be 1 PM Monday at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Rd.) with the Rev. James Bos officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION with Henrietta’s family will be 2-5 PM Sunday at Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, (231-726-5210).
