Henry Hilliard's Obituary
Mr. Henry H. Hilliard, age 84, passed away early Thursday morning, February 3, 2005. He was born December 19, 1920 to Howard and Anna Mae (Cater) Hilliard in Bear Lake, MI, and had lived in Manistee and Detroit before coming to Muskegon in 1940. He worked for the Muskegon Public Schools, was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, a member of the VFW Post #6333 in Kaleva, and belonged to The Salvation Army. Mr. Hilliard was married to Maggie Morris on December 31, 1940. She preceded him in death on August 30, 1968. He later married Helen G. Betz on July 19, 1969 in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2004. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Carroll (Nancy) Hilliard of FL, James (Kathy) Hilliard of PA, Roger (Judy) Hilliard of Brethren, MI; 5 step-children, Ronald (Kaye) Betz of Noblesville, IN, Daniel (Sandy) Betz of Muskegon, Linda (Douglas) Yeck of St. Paul, MN, David (Sylvia) Betz of Kalamazoo, Mary (Paul) Duskin of Sioux Falls, SD;7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Wayne Hilliard; 3 brothers, Sylvester, Virgil, and Alvie Hilliard. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Monday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave.,(231) 726-5210. Burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery in Bear Lake.
