Henry Hamilton Cooper, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Henry Hamilton Cooper, Jr., age 80, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at his home. He was born June 21, 1931 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Henry and Hazel (Benson) Cooper, Sr., and has lived in this area since 1970.
Henry retired from the US Air Force after serving for 20 years. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeant Association, Masonic Lodge, and the Grand Haven VFW Post #2326. He was also known as the “Tomato Man” and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and puttering in the garden.
On April 8, 1961 he married Betty Harms in Windsor, MO and she survives him along with 3 children: Barbara (Dale, Sr) Plude of Grand Haven, Shirley (Kurt) Martin of Spring Lake, and Henry, III (Tammi) Cooper of Grand Haven; 6 grandchildren: Dale Plude, Jr, Sarah (Sean) Patterson, Zachery Cooper, Jessica Cooper, Tyler Cleveland, Sydney Cleveland; 1 brother, Eugene (Ruth) Cooper of Grand Haven and brother-in-law, Henry Lee Douglas of Tuckerman, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Roy Cooper and James Cooper; and a sister, Merline Douglas.
A Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Hope Reformed Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Tim Taylor officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Military rites will be provided by the Air Force Honor Guard. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
