Herbert A. Bassauer's Obituary
Mr. Herbert A. Bassauer, age 85, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born on August 11, 1931 to Adolf and Marie (Becker) Bassauer and had lived in the Muskegon area for over 58 years. Herbert married the former Sandra Leitgeb in Muskegon, August 1, 1959 at Lakeside Methodist Church where they attended for over 57 years. They presently attend Lake Harbor United Methodist Church. He had worked at Port City Machine and Tool for 27 years prior to retiring. Herbert was a member of the Muskegon Moose, Eagles, American Legion and was the former president of the local German Club (G.B.U.). He enjoyed his cabin in Kalkaska and traveling, but foremost was always his family. SURVIVORS include his loving wife, Sandra of 57 years; daughters, Lisa Bassauer, Laura (Richard) DeBruin and Barbie (Darrel) David; grandchildren, Rachel, Katie, Nick, Zack and Sarah; sisters, Hilda (Franz) Roth, Lisa Dorsam and Margaret (Wolfgang) Keyselt; sisters-in-law, Norma (Tom) Hall and Diane Leitgeb. He is also survived by a host of extended family. Herbert was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Tony Leitgeb. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 17, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Rev. Mary Ivanov officiating.
