Herbert J. "Herb" Kile III's Obituary
Herbert J. “Herb” Kile III, age 79, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 30, 1945, to Herbert Kile II and Catherine (Lewis) Enger in Oak Park, IL. Herb graduated from Porter High School and eventually made Muskegon his home for 44 years. He dedicated 40 years of his life to Johnson Tech as a tool maker, retiring after many years of hard work and dedication. On December 13, 1980, Herb married the love of his life, Caren Butterfield, at Port City Church. Together, they shared 44 years full of love, laughter, and mutual devotion. Herb cherished the simple pleasures of life, taking comfort in the warmth of his home or watching his favorite shows. He was a passionate Chicago sports fan, with unwavering support for the Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks, always cheering for them through the highs and lows. Herb also found a love for high school football when he moved to Muskegon, becoming a dedicated fan of the Muskegon Big Reds! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. He is survived by his loving wife, Caren Kile; seven children, Douglas (Carla) Kile, Wendy (Sam) Romagnano, Christopher Kile, Mark Kile, Eric Kile, Michael Keck and David Keck; six grandchildren, Zachary, Ian, Eric, Brett, Cody and Chance; and two great-grandchildren, Jayce and Zatter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Kile and Lee Kile. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Port City Church-McGraft Campus, 1617 Palmer Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441. A Visitation with the family will be held from 10-11:00 AM at church. Memorial Contributions in Herb’s honor can be directed to Harbor Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441. He will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery.
